Green Lake

We woke up Monday morning on top of Cougar Mountain. We were in a trailhead parking lot and the treacherous journey we took the night before didn't seem as scary when a 15 passenger van came roaring into the parking lot. Had we known the trailhead existed the night before, it maybe wouldn’t have seemed that crazy either. About five cars pulled into the lot as we sat and ate eggs and drank coffee. Our remote spot was now full of children and even more vans. Right next to the trailhead was another road that had a sign for a lake (1 KM away). We tried the road in the van the night before but it was pretty rocky and steep, so we decided to dirt bike it later. It was now later. We got ready for our FIRST dirt bike ride! Additional foot pegs were something on Adam’s to do list before we left, but it was quickly put to the bottom when the transmission needed to be flushed and the oil changed. Poor me.

I held my feet up and out, and we raced up the hill. B U M P Y. B U M P Y. B U M P Y. Rocks and more rocks. Finally. We made it to the top and there was a beautiful lake with a little dock. We sat there for awhile hoping a moose would jump in and go swimming. No luck. A few ATVs flew by on the trail and after a bit we headed back down.

Time to start heading North! We got back on the highway and stopped at another lake along the way. The van needed a little break, as did we, so we stopped at Joffre Park and took a quick ten minute walk to a beautiful lake.

Back on the road again and this time exited at the 70 Mile House exit for Green Lake Provincial Park. We found a nice campsite right on the lake. After setting up camp we went swimming/showering. It was cold but so refreshing. It had been so hot (close to 100 degrees) until this point and for the first time we had to grab an extra layer (probably due to the cold water). We made ramen stew for dinner and hung out fireless once again. BC has banned all fires, so my mosquito candle had to do.
