Last night my brother invited my family over for a good luck/send off party for Adam and me. They gave us a gas giftcard to help us on our adventure, and we are so grateful. I just wanted to write a specific post giving them a shout-out because we are very appreciative of their kindness. Both of our families have been so great and supportive. We wouldn't be able to do this adventure if they weren't watching our cats (bye Oskie and Chilly) and helping us with odds and ends along the way. We were so surpised last night that my family gave us a gift to help with our expenses, and on top of all that, a delicious carrot cake as well! Adam and I were pretty bummed last night as we found out on the way to my brother's house that his subletter fell through. He was counting on someone else to pay his rent and it was a big kick in the gut to have it fall through the cracks. So it just meant that much more to us that my family had given us such a generous gift.
As we mention this trip to people it's crazy how many stories and connections we hear. Many friends have reached out about people they know in Alaska or a possible place to shower (thank God). We are all about the connections and learning about Alaska through the eyes of the locals. If you know someone who is willing to have a beer with us or show us some neat things, send me a message! And if I can weasel a hot shower from them, even better.
