So it all started back in August when Adam was on his own adVANture and stopped in Denver to see me. I am always looking for a travel buddy and knew Adam would be my perfect victim. I planted this seed of "Alaska" in his head, and have been watering it for months now (or he put it in mine... #doesitreallymatter?). About a month and a half ago we really seriously started talking about taking a trip together. I am lucky enough to not work in the summer and wanted to do something that lasted over a month. We both picked a few places that interested us and compiled a list. The top 6 ideas were: China, Alaska, camping all over Colorado, Baja Peninsula, Glacier, and Belize.
We ooohed and aahed and pro-ed and con-ed every idea. We narrowed down the choices (in a painfully slow manner, "Baja would be SO hot this time of year," "Yeah, it's out," "But it would be awesome to camp on the beach," "Right. It's back in.") And eventually we agreed on Alaska which was our original idea back in August. Way to go us.
And now we plan, prepare, and get stressed/excited. We are planning to leave mid-June and have A LOT to do before then. Adam has been a busy vanman working on making the van an awesome liveable space for two, see Van Build. It's hard to plan a lot of things together since we live in different states, but he is visiting me in Denver now so we are able to get things sorted out and planned.
Here is a picture of us being so excited about Alaska. Adam is too excited to even open his eyes! Now that's real excitement if I've ever seen it!
